VentiPay is creating the most complete payment gateway in Latin America, allowing users to pay in cash or installments without interest using a debit or credit card and enabling direct bank transfers. VentiPay integrates with e-commerce companies that operate on platforms such as Shopify, Vtex, Jumpseller and WooCommerce, allowing these businesses to offer greater payment flexibility to their users.
The startup founded by Javier Martínez, Cristián Meléndez and Georges de Bourguignon recently raised a USD $370K pre-seed round in a mix of equity and debt. The round was led by AddWise, a Chilean investor expert in financial investments with multiple ones in venture capital, and Unpopular Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm led by Peter Livingstone. Livingstone has invested in other startups in the region, such as Foodology, where he is a co-investor with Chilean venture capital Kayyak, with VentiPay as his first investment in Chile.
The round also included the participation of a series of angel investors, including renowned startup founders, such as Luis Ahumada, founder of Mediastream and an Endeavor entrepreneur; Pedro Fuentes, a Chilean living in the United States where he works as a Partner and Engineering Director for Microsoft, and other investors from the financial sector on Wall Street (Alberto Garrido and Hussein Abbas) with expertise investing on the debt of Afterpay and Affirm.
VentiPay will use the fresh capital to continue its growth. The company launched its first product on November 2021, and currently has more than 120 adhered merchants. Among the businesses that today operate with VentiPay are Wild Brands, Depto51, Adagio Teas, Froens, and Trailsports. A network of over 200 stores is expected at the end of 2022.
